I was super happy to be brought onto this project as the Director of Photography for Spotify Frequency's Frequency Zine featuring Asake, one of Nigeria's biggest artists and one of the most streamed Afrobeats artists in the world.
We shot the project using a combination of digital cinema cameras and 16mm film, with me serving as both DP and camera operator throughout production. We also incorporated VHS camcorder footage to capture varying textures and organic visual elements throughout the piece. The goal was to create visuals that felt personal and authentic while supporting the editorial style of the interview and highlighting Asake's story.
